Can this Marina Strawberry be saved?

Help! This poor plant was being over watered by myself and unknowingly, my children. The leaves started getting hard and falling but there was new growth so (as a new owner assumed this was normal) but then the new leaves started turning black. We immediately googled to see that it was due to over watering. This plant is potted as I was advised at the nursery this is fine if getting proper sunlight it just won't grow as large as it could. Thought that would be perfect for a beautiful indoor feature. I immediately made sure it wasn't potted to low and lifted the pot so it could drain properly, and it did. So that seemed to clear my mind. I haven't watered it since (probably 2 weeks) and it is getting new growth but it looks terrible and I want to help it!
The leaves are all falling, the bark is still red except some of the tips on branches, and it does have recent new growth. The first picture is how it looked healthy...and then now.

It should recover if it’s got new growth. Leave it alone to recover from its traumatic time. It’s dropping leaves because it’s using its strength to grow and can’t support leaves as well as grow at the moment. It’s going to take a while but it will come good with patience
