What are these growths on this plant please

I’ve salvaged this plant from a developers skip about five yrs ago these growths appear every May now. What to I do next

    Leave them as they are flowering stems.  Looks like a Cycad ?  If so, you have a real gem  :)

    Thankyou for all your comments on my ,I now know is a cycad . It really is an amazing plant and vicious if I get to close

    @fishannon Yes, it was the spines which made me think Cycad.  I have one which I grew from seed some 40 years ago.  I've had plenty of youngsters from it ( they grow from the trunk ) but it has never yet flowered.  I shall show mine your photo I think  :D

    good luck with your Cycad plant, looking it up now I’ve an idea what it is, there are male and female plants. Talk to it, I’ve only had mine 7yrs, but it was very big when I dragged it out of skip where it had been dumped without soil and TLC.it could be 20 yrs old for all I know. I have to admit I do curse it when I catch myself on its spines.worse that cat claws.
