Is this some kind of rose?

The stem is thorny but the flowers aren’t really rose-like.

Yes it’s a rose … a single flowered form instead of a multi-petalled type.

It has flowers like the rose "Ballerina".
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Oh wow, that’s some great insight, thanks. Yes it looks similar to ballerina. I must look after this one. Hopefully it will grow much better in the future if I know it’s routine maintenance.
