I've grown this plant for about 30 years and this is the first year I've heard the name Pale Yellow-eyed Grass. I'm sure I've heard another common name though, just can't remember what it was.
I've heard satin flower too, but there are quite a few other plants (eg Libertia) also called satin flower, so I stuck with Sisyrinchium striatum (have to use the full name as I also have Sisyrinchium californicum)
