Is it safe to water vegetables with fish tank water?

in Fruit & veg
I've read lots of threads about how good aquarium water is for plants as they love all the nutrients but what I really want to know is whether there is any danger in eating the vegetables. I assume that plant roots and the soil filter the water and you'd wash or peel veg before cooking/eating anyway.

I would be careful to keep the water off salad leaves etc that are likely to be eaten in the next few days, but watering the soil is fine. If the water is safe for fish to live in then it’s fine for our veg. After all, for years and years gardeners and allotmenteers have hauled up water from ponds and ditches with buckets on ropes to water their veg, and farmers take water from reservoirs etc to irrigate the fields. Not a problem. 😊
