Too late to prune dogwood?

I meant to prune my dogwood this spring as I’ve heard that it helps produce more colourful winter stems. Time has run away with me. Is it too late? Thanks in advance.

If your shrub is young, it's not really needed to prune them back in spring time. You could take some back a bit and leave the rest. This colourful stem is for a select few but not for all Dogwoods.
