Plant ID

Hello

Is anyone able to identify this plant.  It has been growing in my garden for what seems forever.  I am hoping that it can be identified by the buds.  Many thanks

Yes, I agree. Can't spell the Latin name.

    If it's that, it's Catananche.

That makes so much sense.  I planted this well over a year ago and it was very slow to grow.  I gave up and plonked it in the bed last autumn as I couldn't bear to throw it away.  I thought it would have been eaten by now, but only recently saw the buds form.  Thank you all.

I just had look it's pretty.  Is it too late to plant more

Lovely plant. Have grown both the blue and the white ones.
    Very long flowering.
