It looks like a camassia to me, but what a stunning colour! Arit mentioned a purple camassia on Gardeners World last week, at the Malvern Show. Could it be that perhaps?
A quick Google showed camassia 'Plum Tart' which is purple.
I googled the scilla peruviana and the images are all a sort of Spanish bluebell blue. Is the one in the photo a new variety do you think? I'd buy some if they were the violet purple but not the dull blue.
Scilla peruviana is not Allium family but Asparagaceae. It does not come from Peru...but was named after the ship Peru. Not is it a hyacinth. It is a tender plant. Quote wiki.... "Scilla peruviana, the Portuguese squill,is a species of Scilla native to the western Mediterranean region in Iberia, Italy, and northwest Africa."
I'm not sure about it being tender, mine's been in the garden for many years. It keeps multiplying too, so I have to divide it. The garden will be full of it soon!
