Prickly Lettuce

This is supposedly a "prickly lettuce" according to a plant identifier
which also states it is poisonous?
I cannot seem to find it on Google as poisonous
and what google pictures as prickly lettuce does not resemble this in my view
Can anyone confirm ID and if poisonous please?

I often find it in pots during the spring - I pulled up several yesterday.
It does have milky sap which is probably a skin irritant.
If left it produces a yellow flower a bit like a dandelion which will then self-seed.
It has quite a long tap root, so try and get the whole thing out so it doesn't pop up again.
No idea what it's called though..
But I'm sure someone here will know

I agree. Sow thistle.  Used to pick them to feed pet rabbits when I was a child.

  • thanks for that - I will pull with the hope of getting it all (I live in hope)
