This is growing on my mum's lawn, some kind of fungal/lichen thing?
Any ideas please knowledge bank?

Could be snow mould, a fungus.
Was there any shrub/trees previously growing there but cut down/died?

Thank you! Definitely Dog Lichen.
It makes sense as there are lots of old mines under the gardens, so odd things do appear. 👍
