Japanese Hori Hori Planting Knife

Hello,

Does anyone have one of those Japanese Hori Hori planting knives you see people with more and more today.

If you do have a planting knife should I consider adding one to my bucket of gardening tools?

If you do have one what make is yours and is it worth buying?

Finally what do you use your planting knife for?

Thank you
TheSustainableGardener

    Love mine.
    Its a Niwaki.
Use it for planting, weeding, dividing etc.

I’m also a fan but was slightly disappointed that my Niwaki started to bend under pressure yet not, I thought, excessive pressure.

If I were to buy a replacement I would browse detectorists’ websites to see what they are recommending. Garrett, Raven, DR Tek and Lesche are likely to feature there.

Mine's Japeto https://www.japeto.co.uk/products/weeding/hori-hori-knife-deluxe-leather-holster  and I love it.  Just today I've used it to free plants which were stuck in pots and to cut same plants into sections for replanting.  I've sawn through roots with it when planting too.  Multi-function avoids the need to stop, find another tool, use it and lose it in the garden.

Snap. But as it was a gift I don't know the make. Very, very useful.
