Looks like something in the Calathea family, but I couldn't say which one. They're picky about correct watering, don't like direct sun or cold draughts, and need humidity in the air.

I also spotted an 18" ming aralia for £20. If it's still there next week I'll add that to my small collection. I've had a dinner plate aralia for nearly 4 years and it's really grown well

Thanks very much @Balgay.Hill that's a useful site. It's good to see advice about flushing a plant through a few times a year too - it's very important, but it's advice I rarely see. It was very dry when I got it yesterday, so I gave it a drink and it's perked-up a lot over night -

You're right - I done a google for calatheas and it's a Peacock Calathea - but probably not for long - at least it's in a smart cache pot
