Star/Confederate Jasmine no smell

Hello! I was so excited about my star jasmine growing on my trellis. It is now starting to flower and there is no smell to them whatsoever. Even when I get really close to a flower. Is this common? We had a neighbor growing up and you could smell it down the street. And it was star Jasmine.  Any ideas? Thank you!

    I will also say that I did research and grew it on the west side of the house to get the best sun. The plant looks amazing and lush. Has tons of blooms. Just no smell.

    Have a sniff in the evening.
    Many plants produce their scent in the evening to attract moths etc.
    Mine would have very little scent early in the day, but by late afternoon/evening the house was filled with perfume - which was a bit overpowering sometimes.
    Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
    Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
