Hello all. I have penstemon cuttings. The roots are starting to show through the pot. Should I pot them on or leave them as they are and plant them out next month? Also do I nip out the tips or not? Many thanks
The ones on the left look as if they could do with pinching out. I would leave them for now as well, but if you don't get them planted within a month or so they'll need potting on.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
I planted out one of my bigger cuttings last week. The next morning it was all gone but a small stem left in the ground, despite all the belief that snugs and snails don't touch them.... I guess young shoots are just too tempting!

It is worth pinching out the tops, which can then be used as further cuttings.
