Please help to identify these 2 from San Francisco

Hi There

My uncle has these two plants growing in his new garden in San Francisco and wonders what they are. Is the white flowered one an Australian bottlebrush plant ?

Thanks for your help.

The first one looks like spiderwort ‘Sweet Kate’

The second one might be a fothergilla

1st one looks like Tradescantia virginiana.
How can you lie there and think of England
When you don't even know who's in the team

Thanks both for the very quick responses, if anyone else has any other ideas then do let me know !

I can confirm the first as Tradescantia 'Sweet Kate' ... I have it growing in my garden.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

H Dove from above. Thanks for identifying that- my uncle in the USA says a BIG thank you :) Good to know it grows here too as I want some !

I agree it's a tradescanthia but don't know which one.
Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
