I thought it might be interesting and useful to have a thread where we could post our photos of potted plants, a place where we could find inspiration and ideas for annual or perennial displays. 

Any individual plants and plant combinations welcome, single pots or clusters, huge or tiny, hanging baskets and wall pots...

My only mixed pot last year was:
• Imperata cillindrica;
• Heuchera ‘Plum Cascade’;
• Purple annual verbena;
• Euphorbia ‘Diamond Frost’.

It looked very good in July, August and September and it continued to do so well into October, though the euphorbia has grown a bit vigorously.

Recently I’ve removed the grass and found a place for it in the borders, though I could have kept it in a pot to use in another mixed display. I’ve repotted the heuchera (this has continued to look good throughout the winter) in a pot of its own to see if I can really get it to ‘cascade’.

What a good idea.  That's a lovely combo @pitter-patter Here are some of my favourites from recent years.

Hakonechloa aureola, Cotinus Royal Purple, Scleranthus uniflorus


Agapanthus Northern Star, Eucomis Sparkling Burgundy


Phormium Cream Delight, Escholzia californica (same pot as above)

All of those look beautiful, @KeenOnGreen! What a great idea with the California poppies! I have a phormium in a pot and I will definitely add a few poppy seeds to it.

I will do some research on scleranthus uniflorus, it might look very good in some areas that I’m rethinking.

The is petunia Red Velour - mine seem to like full sun best. I can only grow it in pots because - slugs.

@Plantminded That’s like a miniature garden in itself. I like the way you’ve arranged the slate diagonally.
@Fire Always a great plant. I’m not growing it from seed this year, as I’ve taken cuttings of one that has survived in a corner outside.
@valerieroberts Yes, houseplants are more than welcome. Lovely variety of leaves there.

My hyacinths have been top heavy so I had to use some shrub prunings to support them.  

Tulipa cretica ‘Hilde’ still looking good after two weeks. Short dainty species tulip that I will keep in the pot for next year.
