Alliums

Evening,

I’ve seen that Crocus are selling Alliums with 50% off - is there a reason for this seemingly decent discount, giving that they’re still to flower?

They are planted in pots (one or a maximum of 3 most likely) and much more expensive than the dried ones you can buy in autumn. Most of the people probably bought theirs last year, so I assume they don’t sell well.
  • Ah, ok. I didn’t plant any last year but would like a couple in the garden. I assume they’ll do just fine if planted in a border?

Yes, they’ll do well and they are wonderful plants worthy of admiration long after the colour of the flowers have faded. Most of them will reliably come back and multiply (they do in my garden - I have 14 varieties).

They are having a laugh at £8.99 a pot. You will find them at your local GC for more like £2.99...
