How best to fill in a hole with grass?

Hi,

Recently moved into a new house that had a trampoline in the back garden.

Having got rid of the trampoline there is now a reasonably sized hole left and weeds have started to grow in it.

I'm looking to want to fill the hole in with grass but I'm not sure what the correct way to do that is and was hoping I could get some advice.

Note there is a black membrane on top of the soil so also wondered if best to take that out or leave it.

Take out the black membrane, fill the hole with topsoil making sure to firm it down then sow grass seed. You will get a quicker result by using turf rather than waiting for seed to germinate but it will cost more.

That circle would make a perfect flower bed - must you grass it over?

As @steephill says - turf is quicker, but it can be tricky to get a good match, so you can always sow some seed too, and broadcast across the whole are so that it all blends in. Depends on how fussy you are about it though   :)
