Old irrigation system - Help!

Hi.  We've moved into a new house and there's a rather substantial watering system already in the garden. The previous owner (who only lived in the house for 5 yrs) apparently never used it so we don't have any instructions or even know if it works.

There's a huge tank, which when we viewed the property we thought was an oil tank to do with previous heating. However, a builder who has been doing some jobs for us believes it's for water for the garden. Also, having chopped back a bush this weekend I've discovered a 'Rain Bird' panel. I include some photos.

Any advice what I should do would be much appreciated, as I don't know where to start with this one! Thank you so much.

Wow, someone's put a lot of effort, and probably cash, into that setup! Rainbird has a website https://www.rainbird.com/eur but I can't seem to get on to it (keeps timing out). If you have more luck you could maybe contact them with your pics and see if they can identify what you have, or see if there's anything helpful on there.
It appears to be a US company so your system was probably bought from a UK distributor (Google found several https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=rainbird+irrigation+uk)
Edit: I don't suppose you have a key to that locked panel?
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    I don't have a key  :|

Managed to get the website to open (don't know why I didn't think of looking for the company myself! thank you for the prompt). I've emailed the US company to get a list of distributors in the UK and then hopefully one of them may be able to help.
