Chicken manure pellets on compost

    You can mix leaves into any compost heap and they will happily breakdown together, I find leaves and grass clippings are a great mix. A few chicken pellets will help to kick start a compost heap too. Leaves do breakdown to not much, I had 3 pallet bins crammed and paddled down which has condensed down over winter to less than 1 bin. I do turn mine as part of my whole compost system and will be adding grass to it come spring to make an excellent compost. I've been using mine sieved for my veg seeds this spring and had excellent germination, careful watering is needed 
  • Thanks for the info folks. I might just leave the leaf pile to rot away for another year and start a separate compost heap. I do have a huge garden so it’s hidden away. However, my potting bench is tiny. (0:

    You can always make the potting bench bigger @bellyshere ;)
