What is this please?

    It looks a bit like a slim vine weevil but no doubt an insect expert will be along shortly to ID it. 
    SW SCOTLAND but born in Derbyshire

    It is a weevil of some kind (the most numerous type of beetle there is) but not the dreaded vine weevil.

    It’s not a Baby Cockroach is it Palustris? 😞 
    They are only a couple of mm long, have appeared since my bathroom was ripped out and refurbished. Also have an orchid in the bathroom? x

  • It's definitely a weevil of some sort, not a cockroach.  Weevils are recognisable because they have a "snout", like in your photo.  And as Palustris says, not a vine weevil either.  I reckon your orchid is quite safe!
    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • What is causing them to hang around? They seem to like water…is there anything I can do to get rid of them? x
