Apple Tree Advice

Hi all

We recently moved into a new house that has a couple of apple trees.

One of them- pic attached - isn't very happy. Barely any growth over the summer and fungus seemingly growing out of it.

Do you think it's salvageable, or would I be better to get rid and plant something else?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Luke

Can’t see a pic but any kind of fungus growing out of a tree is bad news.
Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.

Right. It looks a bit like tinder fungus. See here

which is good if you are wanting to light a fire but not so good if you are wanting to grow an apple tree.

Since the fungus is so widespread within the branches, it’s fair to say that your tree is not long for this world I’m afraid.
