My small piece of heaven

Ante1Ante1 Posts: 2,970
Hello all. I'm on this forum few years now, and few beautiful people here already know me. Growing vegetables is my passion, and I'm gardening over twenty years. I have few acres of land, but it's impossible to cultivate it all by myself. Now I'm self sufficient and all surplus I sell to local restaurants or people. This thread will be like my small journal and for receive or give some advices. And of course, to brag a little bit. 😁 Growing season is very near so I already made all plans, bought almost all seeds and just waiting weather to improve. This year I'll plant 200 kg potatoes, 20 kg onions, 100 sweet potatoes, and many other things. Also, I have orchard with apples, cherries, pears and hazelnuts. I'm looking forward to chat with you all.

A wonderful place you have there Ante.

Enjoy your youth and strong knees. We oldies remember what it used to be like to be able to bend down and stand up again without having to think about it. 😊

Might you be able to add some photos please ?

Thank you pansy. Every year I feel my knees more and more.

Thanks punkdoc and Hostafan. I'll post photos how season progress. I have some photos from last year, but first must find in which file I store them.
  • Good to see you @Ante30 … I’m going to enjoy looking around your smallholding (as we call a few acres of productive land).
I grew up on a farm and when I had children of my own we had a smallholding … we had 9 acres and grew a few veg but mainly we kept animals for milk, cheese, eggs and meat (and ponies to ride) and we swapped our produce with folk who grew vegetables on the allotments nearby.
It was hard work but happy times. 😊

  • It sound like farming not gardening....200kg of potatoes! Good on you, I am jealous.

    Magnificent!

Here in UK we have lots of local (village) competitions with medals and prizes for people who can grow the biggest or most perfect fruit, vegetable or flower.

The competitions have lots of rules and regulations, most of which look ridiculous to the ordinary gardener but the people who take part in them are fierce and serious. 😊

Do you have similar “shows” in Croatia, Ante?
