I have just bought a leaf rake (carbon steel).
What is everyone's view on this please?

    They can be susceptible to rusting, unless coated. The metal can be weak too, depending on the carbon ratio in the steel mix. Make sure to clean it off after use and keep it stored in a dry place indoors.
