Wow, really spoilt for choice now, some decisions to make! I plan to grow them up and between roses and some small evergreen shrubs so maybe the flopping thing will be fine. Eureka is certainly a fabulous colour @Marlorna, but I think the slightly paler ones will stand out better against the dark grey fence. Thanks everyone.

Hi all, finally got around to ordering, so many thanks again for all your suggestions.
I went for Nodosum Silverwood for the front and Orion for the back of the shadier spot. Orion was particularly recommended for shade by the nursery and I can stake it/tie it in to the climbing rose wires if need be. For the brighter areas I went for a mix of Gravetye and Mrs. Kendall Clark to mingle with the compact shrubs plus some Brookside for the feet of a standard rose. I’ve gone a bit mad, ok totally mad and ordered FAR too much and probably far too much blue too!

I was very pleased to be able to pick up a couple (ie the last 2) Eureka Blues from Beth Chatto's a couple of weeks ago. Even better I got a couple of large (ie very splittable) Brooksides for £2 each at a garden club talk last week.
Sounds like we'll both be doing a lot of planting!

Looks like I’ve started something here @Topbird, oops! I hope you like Eureka. I ordered 26 perennials in total as I have lots of gaps in other borders I’ve been unable to fill over the last year or two. I’ll certainly be very busy. It’s a nursery new to me, so I’m a bit trepidatious about it, finger’s crossed they are ok plants 🤞

Just reporting back, Orion has stayed a really good cool blue/violet whereas Brookside has gone rather more pink so seems to be less colour stable in heat. Its very hot for May! They are not planted out yet and have been growing on in the same good light conditions. Both are very leggy though despite the good light, long flopping stems flowering only at the ends. I guess they will sort themselves out and bush up in time..
