The internet and online forums.

I find the internet, 'Out of this world'  All that is there just for the touch of a computer key.

Then one area of the net.  Forums.  OK lets take this one.  Members who contribute have a vast amount of gardening know-how etc.  Contributions can lead to wholesome debates.  Sadly sometimes slurs and totally unwarranted comments arise.  How do YOU feel about a forum member being insulted etc.  Is this the place or the time.

I joined this forum last October. I read most of the threads but I've never seen a forum member being insulted or verbally attacked. I can only comment on what I've seen so far and that's a great bunch of friendly and helpful members.

In those fly-on-the-wall documentaries they often fuzz out the heads of people who don’t want to feature. That seems typical of my life; certainly my fuzzed out head has missed the slurs and unwarranted comments.

A respectful and courteous forum as this one is certainly due to the Moderator/s influence. Like attracts like. 

There's bound to be someone who gets out of bed on the grumpy side, feels sensitive and might read a comment the wrong way. This is life. Though I have to say; I too haven't seen a nasty comment, let alone a pile on.

With you there @Fairygirl, unfortunately Mike raises his head above the parapet from time to time, usually to complain about some perceived slight, or to moan about another member.

yes - and then returns to the other forum he's on to complain about folk here

@Mike Allen you've not posted on here for ages so you can't be referring to insults on here ... if you feel you've been insulted on another forum then you need to take it up with the Mods on that forum ... please don't bring disputes from elsewhere onto GW.

Maybe I shouldn't really get involved in this but let's just reflect on one of the OP's earlier messages .....

..... and maybe think of him a touch more favourably. As a new poster here myself I've seen all types of response, most nice and friendly I have to say, but not all.
