Plant problem/help/Chinese rice-paper plant 'Rex'

Hi All, I am just seeking a little help and advice. I got Gifted a tiny little Chinese rice-paper plant 'Rex' for Christmas.
I don't really know where to place it to keep it safe. I have a small garden with no space for a greenhouse, so have been trying to protect the little guy indoors in our coldest room away from the radiator. At the moment it will shoot a new leaf which then dies and then does it all over again.
Any tips and advice would be really appreciated as I don't want to kill it before Spring when I can plant it outside.
