Temporarily move Portuguese Laurel during building work

We are about to start work on an extension, the only access point for the builders is at the front of our property where we have 10 relatively well established Portuguese laurels on each side. We will need to move 10 from one side. 

Is it possible, are there any tips, to temporarily re-home them in pots and replant once work is complete (roughly 6 to 10 weeks starting end of February)?

    Under 6ft, about 7 years.

    I think they'd be safer replanted in a trench and carefully looked after rather than in a pot.  Even under 6ft, having been there for 7 years they're going to have large rootballs ... pots to accommodate them will have to be huge, and they'll be more prone to drying out.
