Hi,

I am wondering whether I should’ve cut this down to ground before or it’s ok to have left it? Shall I just leave it now? It looks like there are some pink buds coming all over? No leaves though… any advice appreciated! Thank you 😊

That's how alpinas grow - the foliage appears later  :)
You can cut them back if they get a bit big for the space, but otherwise they don't really need it. The only other thing I'd say is that all the growth is upward. If you cut back later in the year, and add more supports horizontally, you can then tie in the new growth to get wider coverage  :)

@Fairygirl Ok that’s fab, thanks so much! I wasn’t sure if I should’ve cut it down to the ground. I’ll do as you’ve said, let it do it’s thing now and then cut back later in year. Thank you 😀

    No probs.  :)
I just noticed my alp. Constance has lots of buds breaking, which is early for here, but we've had no winter. I cut it back a couple of years ago because I needed to redo the trellis and paint it. It was back to almost full size the following summer.
They great for early colour and flowers.  :)
