Hello all ... gosh did I miss yesterday out altogether?  It was a busy day .... catching up with some correspondence and stuff and a phone call with an old friend and the day flew by.  Looks like you've all been busy ... the wind has veered round to the North here in Norfolk so it's darned chilly ... and brother who farms down in Suffolk not far from the coast says it's been sleeting this morning.  Wrap up warm folks!

Afternoon all. Busy morning doing a bit of hsewk. Window chaps coming tomorrow and I thought I should at least make the effort to clean the areas they'll be using / working in tomorrow. At this time of year my "Minimum of hsewk through the summer" routine starts to show itself - oops. Never mind it'll get done over the winter.

You're right about it being chilly down here Dove. We've had squally showers (no sleet though) and I'm rather looking forward to watching the Grand Prix in front of the fire this afternoon. Beef casserole tastes yum (just been taking the meat off the bones and finger licking was required) so that will be a good winter warmer tonight. Might open a bottle of red as well.

Chive - sorry to hear you've got this horrid cold now. Wasn't it noticeable that none of us had a cold last winter but I think we've nearly all had it now haven't we? Not sure whether that's down to more socialising, schools being in or fewer masks being worn - probably a combination of all three.

Pleased to say nearly everyone is still wearing their mask in 'my' supermarket - just a few blokes and younger women choosing not to. Noticeable difference if I pop into T'scos  or S'burys where hardly anyone is wearing them. Grrr....

Take care - sounds like lunch is ready.

Lunch was good - jambon buerre (aka ham baguette with lots of butter, mustard & sliced gherkins.

Meant to say - your earrings look lovely LB - understated but very glam. Aren't youhoping to get to a family wedding in Oz next year? They'd look very stylish with any posh outfit.

BL - I know the pub you went to yesterday. Has had quite a good reputation for good honest food for some years. Nice to hear it's weathered the storms of Covid.

Just making our way through all the pre- race bollo**s (OH likes the full experience!) then it's "Lights out and away we go". 🏎🏁🏎

  • Afternoon everyone,  it seems a very sporty Sunday afternoon. 😣🤦‍♀️
@Chivetalking sorry to hear you are feeling poorly too. Hope you get well soon.
@Topbird OH has been watching it too 🏎🏎
Very chilly today.  Skies are rather grey and quite breezy. Leaves are falling from the trees quite quickly. More raking to do, it will fill the garden bin in no time.
Time for a cup of tea I think ☕☕

Afternoon everyone. Good grief but its been chilly today. So sorry to hear that you, Chive, have joined Hazel in the sniffly snuffly team. I hope it passes quickly though if mine and T'Bird's were anything to go by be prepared for a long recovery.
Busy, I hope that the church tea was substantial enough to warrant you forgoing your lunch. I just had pictures of the Father Brown series and Mrs McCarthy and her award winning strawberry scones, shooting into my mind!
T'Bird, I'm already planning on where I can conceal things when the engineer comes to service my boiler in January! Sounds like your beef casserole was as delish as it sounded when you were describing it. I watched the Ireland - Argentina rugby match this p.m. but did catch the result of the Grand Prix (no spoilers for anyone who might catch it later). Yes, T'Bird, a tentative date for next October in Oz for the wedding.

Ante, I heard on the news that there had been some demonstrations in Croatia against further restrictions imposed as a result of the spread of Covid. I do hope that none of these demonstrations were near to you

I've just watched the early evening news showing the anti-Covid restriction 'demonstrations' in the Netherlands.

I put the word demonstrations in inverted commas because the TV footage seems to show an overwhelming majority of young white males hell bent on burning / damaging property and attacking the police and other emergency services. That's not a political demonstration - that's criminal hooliganism and vandalism pure & simple. 😡

    Good evening to all.

Chive, sorry to hear that you have cold. Take care and get well soon.

LB, yes, it was pretty huge demonstration yesterday in our capital. It's not near me, don't worry. They even attacked few tv reporters. Really don't know what to say.

Here was grey and foggy day. I bet that LB sent me her wweather 😉. I'm still quite tired from yesterday. I had a long walk but it wasn't enjoyable like previous two days. We even met a group of hunters. Don't like hunters at all.
Now I must read all what I have missed here.

OH thinks that many of the people who demonstrate do so because they think it's fun, they don't really believe in the reason for demonstrating.

LB, the church tea was very substantial, the tables were laden with sandwiches, canapes, sausage rules etc and loads of cake. It was delish.

Rubee Good to hear your OH is a little better, but your poor lower back I hope that improves in time, I hope Bluebells is ok today,

Topbird Yes you’re right about the colds, this is the first I’ve had in a long time. Your meals today sound mouth watering,
