Indoor geranium cuttings

Hi there.  My gran used to root cuttings of her indoor geraniums just in a jar of water. I have had success doing this with the lemon-scented ones, (which Gran never tried) but cannot seem to get the pelargonium variety to take. I use just the top 2 or 3 leaves so they are only 3 or 4 inches in size.  I change the water at least twice a week and they are kept on a sunny window ledge... what am I doing wrong?

I took these cuttings about 3 weeks ago Drumelzier and just checked and I see that they have both rooted.

Excellent!  I wonder if my room is too cold - mine are at two weeks old too, but nothing yet!

I have never ever changed the water when rooting cuttings in a jar of water. Works just fine without and I keep the jar in a lightly shaded spot so it doesn’t  develop a lot of algae. 😊

OK - I will try your way with some of them. I can’t remember if it was a GW video I watched, but somewhere very recently the advice was change the water EVERY DAY, so I thought I was being risky/lazy doing at twice a week! 😁

I change the water if it's beginning to smell or look too scuzzy. I don't think it makes much diff to the actual rooting.

Well, we’ll soon see - I’ll have 2 sets…clean water & slightly scuzzy! 😁

I read online that it is possible to put a load of geraniums in a cardboard box to overwinter them, so I'm giving that a try too!
