JUNK MAIL

Does anyone know how I can put a stop to junk mail please...?
Since  my mum passed away we are having her mail come  to us.. problem is she used to deal with many  mail catalogues , who as we know pass your address on.
So now all our post is mums  junk  mail, we have tried returning it with a polite note asking them to remove her from the mailing lists but they are ignoring this.
Is there anything  else I can do please?

I used to delight in removing the contents of junk mail and swapping it into the reply paid envelopes of Other junk mail.
They send you junk, you send them junk. Worked a treat ( and was very satisfying to know I was keeping Posty in a job and annoying the junk mailers at the same time )

You contact Royal Mail for a sign for the front door.
    Being polite is pointless unfortunately.

I've just done that to send junk mail to a company that keeps sending stuff here for the previous owner  [we've been here over 8 years]  I've lost count of the number of times I've emailed them.
I had a bundle of junk mail to hand, and a new letter from them, so I popped it all in and returned it to them   :)

I used to save everything which came through the post. Flyers for Sky, pizza takeaway menus, everything used to get sent off to someone else

For some reason we used to get a fat wholesale toy catalogue delivered here in September-ish to a name that ,as far as I could make out has never ever lived here ... I kept doing the Return to Sender thing but every year the catalogue arrived.

Then I googled the company and sent an email to the contact address on the website ... I received an emailed apology and the catalogue hasn't been delivered since ... so far.

Tell them that by using your mother’s name without her permission they are in breach of the Data Protection Act and liable to prosecution unless they update their records.

I don’t know if it’s true but it always stops them in their tracks.

  • I guess junk mail can annoy a lot of people.

I just stick unwanted junk mail, unopened in the bin, along with the unwanted flyers that the postman delivers with the mail.
For me, that's an easier solution than trying to stop them coming.

I only get stuff for posh retirement villages and timeshares that my non existent grandchildren will appreciate when I snuff it.
My longish garden path seems to deter most of the pizza flyer droppers.

I actually spoke to our postman a couple of weeks ago, and because they're contracted to deliver it, there's nothing they can do, which is why he said the best way is getting the door sign from R. Mail.

It's such a hideous waste too, when most of it will be recycled at best, or dumped in landfill. So much for companies being environmentally aware eh?  :/

But does the postman take any notice of the door sign from Royal Mail???
