First time pruning climbing rose

First time pruning my climbing rose- was very intimidated by it! Quite pleased with outcome- guess only time will tell

  • People worry far too much about pruning roses, it’s a cult, a myth. I hack away merrily and they never die. My father abused his Queen Victoria roses for 50 years and they are still there. People worry about introducing diseases but frankly, they get these diseases whatever you do. Good idea to do it in dormant season.

Please do post on the roses thread when it’s flowering 😊
  • Excellent pruning - looks like it’s planted on a bit of a slope though! 😉

Looks great, you have really opened it up and fanned it beautifully so well done you. It must have been in quite a tangle before, if you have a ‘before’ photo please do post that too!
