Cut back grasses before overwintering?

Hello.

I have an ornamental grass (I believe it is pennisetum rubrum) that is not winter hardy in my location. I would like to bring it in over winter, and replant in spring, as I do with my other tender perennials.

My question is, should I cut it back first, or leave tall until spring.

Thanks for any assistance.

Hi @cat02021 - they aren't hardy, so yes - keep the foliage/top growth on until spring.
Once you see some new growth is the usual time.
Just take your time acclimatising it before planting out  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
