Allotments and vegetables from other lands

I'm looking for advice regarding vegetables grown in Malawi, Ethiopia and Kenya which could also be successfully grown in a community garden near Birmingham. I recall an item on an edition of Gardeners' World which was from allotments near Birmingham where there were examples of this but I've no idea when it was. Can anybody help, please?

I wonder if you're thinking of Shades of Black: https://www.sobhelpproject.org.uk/ which was featured last year: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000nx3v/gardeners-world-2020-episode-33 
but more of a community project to bring people together than growing vegetables of african origin. There was a lady featured that grew south east asian vegetables in her garden last year too.
