Can you help identify this plant?
Sorry the pics aren't great. I was asked by my SIL to come up with some suggestions for planting in an area of the grounds he maintains for one of his clients. We went over there and I took some pics but couldn't identify this plant. It was obviously planted as ground cover at some point - there is vinca on the other side but I don't know what it is and how it will behave in different seasons.

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
In damp ground it can spread...but easily controlled
In dry ground much slower
