Calathea growth

Why has my calathea not growing at the bottom, the growth is quite tall and doesn’t stand up by its self. Can I cut it right back to promote the growth from the bottom?.

Hi @afdt and welcome to the forum  :)

It sounds to me as if the plant is becoming 'etiolated' due to having insufficient light ... could this be the case?

If you could help us by uploading a photo of your plant and it's surroundings we should be able to be more certain of the cause of the problem.

To upload a photo click on the little 'landscape' icon above the text box and follow the instructions.  If it doesn't upload reducing the picture size usually sorts it out.

Thanks for the photo :) .  That's a nice collection of plants ... however I think they'll all need more light than they're going to get near the middle of a room, especially as the light levels fall in winter.
