Why has my calathea not growing at the bottom, the growth is quite tall and doesn’t stand up by its self. Can I cut it right back to promote the growth from the bottom?.
It sounds to me as if the plant is becoming 'etiolated' due to having insufficient light ... could this be the case?

Thanks for the photo . That's a nice collection of plants ... however I think they'll all need more light than they're going to get near the middle of a room, especially as the light levels fall in winter.
