Rose

Hi,

My Thomas a Becket rose has gotten very tall, I read that you're supposed to wait till Feb to prune them but I'm worried it's just going to expend energy on trying to be a climbing rose, should I prune it back a bit now?

    You can if you like.
Take it back by about 1/3. This stops wind-rock in the winter and protects the roots.
You may want to wait till the end of the month, by then growth should have stopped and you'll not risk it growing new shoots that may get frost damaged

Thos. a Becket is a large-ish shrub rose ... it grows to around 5' tall and 4' in width.  It's only doing what it's supposed to.
