Forum home The potting shed

Thank you and goodbye

I'd like to thank all those on this forum who have helped with any questions I have had. For honest advice and a friendly welcome and no judgement of my novice gardening. However, with the way the forum has been the last week or so I'm off. It is such a shame one person can ruin a forum with constant sniping and arguing but that is what has happened. So thank you all. And good bye. Gareth.

That's a shame.  One bad apple.......

Please don't let this person chase you away @gjautos.
If you feel it's too much [and believe me - I've been close to leaving this last week too ] press the ignore button on them.
I hope the PM you received wasn't part of the problem. If so, please forward it the mods by using the Flag button, and choosing Report.

Please check in again, gjautos, that person has only been posting on this forum for a few weeks. Hopefully, will be removed at some stage and it can revert back to a peaceful exchange of information backed by experience.

@gjautos. It really isn't always like this. Give us another chance.

Never let a troll get you down.  Ignore them.  Don't feed them.   Stay off threads that upset or offend.

I agree with all that has been said above ... please don't let one bad apple drive you away.  I've enjoyed your posts @gjautos ... and if you've been sent unpleasant PMs please do let the Moderators or @Daniel Haynes the editor know about it.  It can be stopped.

I agree with the others @gjautos - it would be a real shame to see you leave.

The person who caused so much upset is still here and still posting but she has apologised for her behaviour and her current posts are much calmer and more self-moderated. I'm not aware of any flare ups in the last couple of days.

If you find any of her posts too much you don't have to see them - you can click on the Ignore button and they should disappear for you.

There are many experienced and genuinely helpful gardeners on here who can help you avoid making expensive (both time and money wise) mistakes and also provide reassurance when things seem to be going wrong. Chances are - if you have a problem somebody else will have dealt with it before.

    Please reconsider🙂

  • I agree with all the above! It's kicked off again this morning @topbird, but I honestly don't think it is intentional trolling and we all have a part to play in keeping things calm. Not condoning the attacks some members have had at all, obviously, but it's easy to get defensive when we feel attacked and for the most part they've been accepting polite criticism ok over the last few days.

I don't think you've read everything if you think it's calmed down  :|

Ah ok - I've had a busy morning and not noticed anything on the threads I've looked at. Either that or I've trained my eye to skim the posts I don't want to see - a very useful skill that one🤣

Anyway it doesn't matter - we're all agreed we'd like @gjautos to reconsider and maybe come back and join us in a couple of weeks when normal service has been resumed🙂
