Philadelphus Snow Belle - yellow curly leaves
Hi,
We have a philadelphus snow belle - it is 4 years old. After flowering it’s leaves start to shrink and shrivel and by this time of the year it looks ugly. The leaves on the old growth are yellow and browning whereas on the new growth they are large, healthy and green.
Any ideas as to whether this should be expected?
TIA

I think it's been very dehydrated because of the site. Against walls is always dry, so they'd need a lot of water, and also a lot of organic matter to keep the soil healthy. They also prefer neutral to alkaline soil, so if your soil is very acidic, that can affect them, so it's worth checking that.
You can also prune them after flowering, to keep them rejuvenated and flowering well
Here's a little link for further advice for that

The addition of lots of organic matter - compost, manure etc, will also help, and you can do that once the shrub is dormant and well soaked, so that it's easy to get in at it properly. That should also improve things all round
