Grow light bulb for house plants

Is it possible to use a grow light bulb (I'd prefer a standard E27 screw filling) and hang them on the ceiling above a house plant to encourage growth and health? My house gets pretty dark through the winter. And even my spider plants are loosing colour. Moving them is not a option. If a bulb will work, can someone recommend a bulb. I don't want to spend too much and Amazon is a mind field such bulbs. Thanks.

They really only work if they are a few inches above the leaves, and one per plant (or you can alternate it a bit between plants across the week.  A desk lamp style works well, as you can position it near the plants themselves hanging directly over.

Not being in the UK myself, hopefully someone can tell you what they purchased.
