oriental poppies

hi there
just wondered if anyone could help here
I planted some oriental poppy plugs in June, but they just disappeared overnight I'm guessing slugs here,
my question is what are the odds of them growing back next year? there are supposed to be hardy .

Pretty  much completely unlikely, I'd say.
Hardy or otherwise, plugs need grown on until they're much bigger plants before planting out. Even the larger plugs some companies provide would need that.

  • hi ok
did think as much to be truthful,
is a joke though they did state that they were ready to plant in the ground
    still, it was on eBay
thanks for that I will get some seeds, and grow them myself  which i should have done in the first place so much cheaper

I find the term 'Garden Ready' very much a matter of opinion!

A phrase often used on places like eBay @Posy  ;)

  • And a lot of other places Fairy, taken with large pinch of salt. I don't tend to plant anything out till it's at least the size of a one ltr pot

Mark the spot, just in case!
  • All my hardy perennial seedlings/plugs are grown-on for 6 months to year in pots before being planted out.  They wouldn't survive the slugs here otherwise.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Garden-ready often translates as slug and snail fodder 🐌
