How do I differentiate oregano and weed?

Are you wanting to differentiate between seedlings or mature plants with flowers?

Try drying and smoking it ?   Weed should give you a lift unlike Oregano

Oregano smalls like oregano - most weeds have little or no smell.
If you're still not sure try smoking it

Sounds like OP mixed up his/her herbs with 'herb'. Or found a suspect bag.

Well, one smells of oregano and the other smells of weed.  

If you’re not familiar with the respective smells then I can’t think of a way to describe them. 

You need to find someone who has some and smell theirs … or buy some dried oregano from a supermarket and familiarise yourself with the smell.
