Burnt leaves

Could you tell me if this is just too much sun and not enough water, or is it something more sinister? Thanks!
Two plants ,one is holly which isn't going to make it it seems. The other is mostly healthy

  • That could be due to drought. There’s too much competition there for young plants.

If you can remove all the ivy, that'll help. It's just competition for water, and holly, like most shrubs/trees, needs plenty of water after planting, and until established.   :)
It's quite difficult to see the plants though, as the photos aren't very clear, but I'd say it's a combination of both. The soil and aspect, plus general surroundings are all factors.

The holly looks like a very small plant, so it needs a bit of help. They're quite slow growing initially, so they need some decent care until they're properly established.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I see! Thanks very much
