My acer has a few very large spiders on it with huge webs snd the plant is not looking very happy. I’ve tried washing them off with the hose but they defy all odds snd hang on. What can I use to get rid of them please?
Spiders are perfectly normal in a garden - and vital for keeping on top of many pests. It certainly won't be bothering the Acer. If the plant is unhappy looking, it's likely to be for other reasons. Do you have a photo?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
The still dewy mornings of autumn are the best time of year to see the magnificent webs of the garden orb spiders … one of nature’s wonders … they’ll soon be gone when winter winds set in … until then perhaps you can enjoy their transient beauty.
They’re doing no harm … just fulfilling their role in the ecology of a garden.
