What's wrong with my cactus?

hi folks! This lovely fella is my cactus which I've grown from a tiny pot. Does anybody know why it appears to be turning white? It seems kind of waxy and like it is underneath the green, as though the green is peeling away. Any ideas welcome!

I can’t see too well but I wonder if it has some scale insect on there, they can lift the green, maybe if you look closer then google that you may confirm what it is.

  • Thank you Lynn! I think with scale insect it sits on top of the leaves whereas this is kind of underneath the green layer? If that makes any sense!!

Yes it does but I think it may burrow as well,  or has it just had a growth spurt and split its skin.
