Leycesteria

This has self sown in my garden and is getting too big. Could I move it during the autumn or winter?

I have a bird gifted one too. Had it about three years. I hack it back to a few inches in Spring this stops it getting too big. Moving it should be ok, wait until further into Autumn when the plant is dying back. Hard to estimate how big the new planting hole needs to be but do that first. No idea what the root structure is like as I’ve never moved one so good luck.
  • Thanks for your advice. I think I will have to move it as it’s too near a path. Gardening on rock so will have to get a man with a pick axe to dig the hole!

I don't  think mature plants move well but you can cut them back pretty hard.
Have a look around. There's bound  to be several seedlings. Pick a good one , nurture it in a pot and use it to replace the old one next year
    In London. Keen but lazy.
