Spider ID please

Taking the window out of my garage unleashed this beastie.  Looks like a proper spider, about two inches long, brown maybe a touch of red - not the usual fair around the house so I’m wondering what it is?

  • Can’t see it properly but looks as though it can be a false widow or a tube web spider. Check it out on google.
  • False widows are tiny with white markings on their backs.

One of the lads on here who know loads of stuff about wildlife of all sorts might be able to ID it @JoeX  :)
@wild edges, @Alan Clark2 in Liverpool are just two of them.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • No idea but what a beauty!
  • Charlotte, a "beauty",what!! I remember a film called "Charlottes Web" that's obviously you😂

    😂 Great book.

Don't get me wrong, when I have to handle them to remove from the vicinity of a squealing child I do squirm a little! But I think they're fascinating, beautiful creatures.

Wild edges might be busy wrangling children just now, but hopefully someone can help.
It was difficult to see in the video, but it actually just looked like a house spider of some kind to me.
Be good to get the proper ID though.
@CharlotteF - it's when the legs are just too long to fit inside a glass - that's when you know you've got one that's a good size!

My younger daughter is now 24, but it's one thing she struggles with.  ;)

It’s spider season isn’t it?  If I’d had a functioning phone with me these last few weeks I could have added a dozen or so different things I’ve seen or had on top of me.  I walked into a 3ft spiderweb bare-chested* last week and had an orange thing with a huge abdomen running all over me, yuck.  Had to go and shower.

*Masculine I know, and yet evidently not so masculine at the same time.
