Something on top of lawn

Hi
can someone tell me what this is that has appeared in a few different places on our small patch of lawn?
it’s not that bad yet so would like to nip it in the bud if it’s something I need to worry about.
Thanks so much.

It just looks like a fungus of some kind, although a bit hard to tell from the photo. It's pretty normal around this time of year.
It's a part of the eco system of the soil. If it bothers you, you can brush it off, if you want to cut the grass for example. It'll break down and disappear though :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I'm not saying 100% it's that, but it's a common occurrence. We have loads of little bits and pieces of fungi round here just now  :)
Keep an eye on it anyway - or if you can get any more photos that will definitely help ID it.  :)

Possibly a slime mould called Dog's vomit.
