Wisteria not growing

Hi, this year in early spring we bought a wisteria that was approx 6ft high in flower and had lots of buds. All the flowers came out followed by a few leaves and then it’s done nothing. The few leaves are still there and buds have formed for next year but no growth up or out and about dozen leaves. The leaves don’t look fantastic but not marks on them etc. Is this normal for first year after planting and is there anything we can do to help it? Thank you

The first year or so after planting all the energy is being used underground, getting the roots established so they can fuel top growth in the future.

Be patient … make sure it doesn’t dry out next spring and summer, and  it’ll reward you when it’s ready to take off … and then you’ll have to stand well back ….  🚀
